Subject : in grammar is the agent in an active sentence. 
Example : our children planted a tree. 

Verb : a verb, from the Latin verbum meaning word, is a word (part of speech) that in syntax conveys an action (bring, read, walk, run, learn), an occurence (happen, become), or a state of being (be, exist, stand). In the usual description of English, the basic form, with or without the particle to, is the infinitive.
Example : Micky enjoys watching movie. 

Complement : in grammar, a subject complement (also called a predictive complement) is a predicative expression that follows a linking verb and that complements the subject of the sentence by either renaming it or describing it. 
Example : The lake was a tranquil pool. 
                   Predicative nominal as subject complement. 

Modifier : in grammar, a modifier is n optional element in phrase structure or clause structure. A modifier is so called because it is said to modify (change the meaning of) another element in structure, on which it is dependent. 
Example : That nice tall man from Canada whom I met.
